goTenna Mesh offers 4 types of Chat:
- 1-to-1 Chat
- Group Chat
- Shout
- Emergency Chat
| 1-to-1 Chat allows you to message with 1 other goTenna Mesh user. These message can be relayed automatically, and anonymously, to ensure they're delivered to the recipient. These messages are end-to-end encrypted; only the intended recipient will be able to read the content. These message also offer Delivery Confirmation. A green check mark indicates that your message was delivered to the recipients goTenna Mesh. |

| Group Chat allows you to message up to 9 other goTenna Mesh users (Each Group can have a total of 10 contacts, you included!) These message can be relayed automatically, and anonymously, to ensure they're delivered to the recipient. These messages are end-to-end encrypted; only the intended recipient will be able to read the content. | |
| Shouts allow you to send a message to any goTenna Mesh users that are within range. Every goTenna Mesh around you will receive this Broadcast message. As these messages are inherently public, they are not encrypted and can be received by any goTenna Mesh user. These messages to not relay through goTenna Mesh devices. |

| Emergency Chat allows you to send an urgent message to all goTenna Mesh users within relay range. Like a Shout, this message will be received by all goTenna Mesh users. Emergency Chats will also relay through goTenna Mesh devices to ensure their urgent content travels as far as possible. This feature should only be used in an emergency circumstance. |
